The Bengal cat is intended to physically resemble the forest-dwelling Asian Leopard Cat, while maintaining a more desirable domestic personality. Bengals are very active, intelligent, and playful cats with an affinity for water and a love of climbing. The breed standard states that "temperament must be unchallenging". Buyers seeking pets should consider only cats that are four generations or more (labelled "SBT") away from the Asian Leopard, because eariler generations require special care and are not suitable for all households. "There are several colors, the most common being a golden or rufoused brown tabby with gold or green eyes, and white or ivory "snow" bengals with blue, green or gold eyes." |
