American Staffordshire Terrier

    The American Staffordshire Terrier originated from breedings of the English Bulldog and the game English terriers in the 19th century region of Staffordshire England. Brought to the United States the breed was perfected by America breeders who increased its weight and gave it a more powerful head. Its coat is short, thick and shiny and all colors are considered acceptable provided dogs are no more than 80% white. American Staffordshires are full of vitality and have been given outstanding results as an excellent guard dog and esteemed companion.
